There are men’s and women’s individual and team divisions.

Men’s individual divisions include Sprint, Keirin and Omnium, while men’s team divisions encompass Team Sprint, Team Pursuit and Madison.

Women’s individual divisions include Sprint, Keirin, Omnium, Individual Time Trial (250 metres) and Individual Time Trial (750 metres), while women’s team divisions encompass Team Sprint, Team Pursuit and Madison.

Sprint:

Qualifying Round

- Riders compete individually in a 200m time trial.

- Riders with the fastest times advance to the elimination rounds, where they are seeded based on their times.

Elimination Rounds

- Riders compete in a best-of-three format.

- Riders may employ various tactics on the track to overtake their opponents.

- The first rider to cross the finishing line wins.

Keirin:

- Both men’s and women’s divisions cover a distance of 1 500m.

- A derny paces the riders for the first 750m, gradually increasing the speed from 30 km/h to 50 km/h. During this time, riders must follow the derny in the order determined by a draw and are not permitted to overtake it.

- When the derny exits the track with three laps remaining, the riders compete to outmaneuver each other by making use of their strategy, power, speed and judgement.

Omnium:

- Riders compete in four events within one day. These events, performed in sequence, are scratch race (10 km for men, 7.5 km for women), tempo race (10 km for men, 7.5 km for women), elimination race and points race (25 km for men, 20 km for women). In the first three events, 40 points are awarded to the winner, 38 points to the first runner-up, 36 points to the second runner-up and so on.

Scratch Race

- The first rider to cross the finishing line or the rider with the most laps wins.

- The winner is first determined by the number of laps gained. If multiple riders gain the same number of laps, the first rider to cross the finishing line wins.

Tempo Race

- After the first four laps, there is a sprint every lap. The start of the first sprint lap is signaled by the judge ringing a bell.

- The first rider to cross the finishing line in each sprint lap (including the last lap) gains 1 point.

- A rider who laps the main peloton earns 20 points.

- A rider who is caught by the main peloton loses 20 points.

Elimination Race

- 18 riders start the race simultaneously. Riders sprint every two laps and the last one to cross the finishing line on the sprint lap is eliminated from the race

- The last rider remaining after the final sprint wins.

Points Race

- Points are awarded at intermediate sprints (i.e. 5, 3, 2 and 1 point(s) respectively).

- A rider lapping the main peloton earns 20 points, whereas a rider caught by the main peloton loses 20 points.

- Points for the sprint on the final lap are doubled to 10, 6, 4 and 2 points respectively.

- The rider with the most points wins.

- Points gained from the Points Race are directly added to the total score and the rider with the highest total score wins. Therefore, the Point Race is a critical event in determining the final result of the Omnium.

Individual Time Trial:

- Riders compete individually against the clock.

- The rider with the fastest time wins.

Team Sprint:

- Two teams start simultaneously on opposite sides of the track.

- The top eight teams with the fastest times advance to the next round. Matches then start between the 4th and 5th positions, the 3rd and 6th positions, the 2nd and 7th positions, and the 1st and 8th positions. The team with the faster time wins.

- Each rider leads for one lap and swings off until the final rider sprints it out for the victory.

Race Distances:

- Men’s team event - three riders, three laps

- Women’s team event - two riders, two laps

Team Pursuit:

- Each team is composed of four riders. They can take turns to lead in the race.

- The result is determined by the time when the third rider’s front wheel crosses the finishing line.

Race Distances

- 4 km for both men’s and women’s team events

Madison:

- Each team is composed of two riders.

- Team members can take over from each other through physical contact.

- Points are awarded at intermediate sprints. The team with the most points wins.
