Para Dance Sport

The competitions cover two dance categories, namely standard dances (waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, foxtrot and quickstep) and Latin dances (samba, cha-cha-cha, rumba, paso doble and jive).


Rules:

A judging panel typically consists of 6 to 9 judges and a chairperson.

Dancers are mainly judged on three criteria: technical skill, choreography and presentation, and difficulty level.


Competition formats:

Solo Dance: One wheelchair dancer

Duo Dance: Two wheelchair dancers

Mixed Dance: One wheelchair dancer and one able-bodied (standing) partner

Group Dance: Multiple wheelchair and standing dancers
