Volunteer Programme
To facilitate the smooth operation of Hong Kong events of the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG), we have organised a volunteer team with passion and efficiency. During the competition events, mass participation events and relevant mega events, volunteers will provide an array of services, including reception services upon arrival and departure, spectator services, guest reception, crowd control, transport and logistics, catering management, as well as presentation ceremony support.
The first round of volunteer recruitment in Hong Kong was successfully conducted from July to September 2024 whilst the second round of recruitment targeting youths aged between 15 and 17 was conducted from October to November 2024. The two rounds of recruitment attracted over 30 000 applications and nearly 2 000 youth applicants respectively. The number of applicants for the Volunteer Programme has far exceeded expectations, echoing our slogan, “Let’s Volunteer for the National Games”.
Applicants who passed the interview selection process became “Provisional Volunteer Leaders” or “Provisional Volunteers”. Some “Provisional Volunteer Leaders” and “Provisional Volunteers” were invited to participate in test events starting from mid-February as part of their training. Through the completion of the first two stages of training, approximately 15 000 volunteers (including volunteer leaders) have been officially appointed in August 2025 and will continue to receive duty training before service period.
Regarding youth group volunteers, approximately 1 500 youth volunteer applicants aged 15 to 17 have passed the selection process and will receive training from late July to late August 2025. They will be led by about 170 youth volunteer leaders to provide volunteer service.
Latest information of the Volunteer Programme will be released on the online Volunteer Management System and monthly e-Newsletter to the officially appointed volunteers.
